Canton & Company Advises Community Care, Inc. in Strategic Affiliation with CareSource

Canton & Company advises Community Care, Inc. on its strategic affiliation with CareSource, enhancing care for older adults and individuals with complex health needs.

Baltimore, MD — November 1, 2024 — Canton & Company, healthcare’s preeminent strategy, performance, and growth optimization firm, today announced that it has successfully provided strategic and transaction advisory services to Community Care, Inc. (CCI) in its planned affiliation with CareSource, a nationally recognized managed care organization with over 2 million members. This partnership strengthens both organizations' commitment to providing high-quality, person-centered care to older adults and individuals with complex health needs.

In a longstanding partnership, Canton & Company provided strategic growth advisory, M&A deal guidance, and post-transaction planning services to CCI, supporting the organization through the affiliation process with CareSource. Canton also supported due diligence and transaction negotiations to ensure an optimal partnership.

Since its inception in 1977, CCI has been a trusted leader in Wisconsin’s long-term care sector providing managed care services through Wisconsin’s Family Care, Family Care Partnership, and Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) programs, supporting approximately 15,000 individuals through a network of care teams and service providers.

CareSource, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit Medicaid and Medicare managed care providers, will leverage CCI’s deep expertise in long-term care and managed services, further expanding its national footprint. This affiliation aligns with CareSource’s mission to serve vulnerable populations, enabling both organizations to enhance the quality and reach of services available to Wisconsin’s aging and complex needs communities.

“When evaluating potential partners, it was critical to find an organization that could enhance our competitiveness while supporting our mission of providing care to our most vulnerable communities,” said Kenneth Munson, CEO of Community Care, Inc. “With Canton & Company’s strategic guidance, we not only secured the right partner in CareSource, but will chart a growth path that allows us to expand our impact and reach more people in need.”

Don McDaniel, CEO of Canton & Company, added, “We are proud to have supported CCI in this mission-critical work. The affiliation with CareSource enables CCI to enhance and accelerate its purpose and deliver innovative programs that address social determinants of health and improve health equity and access to care. Our team has been inspired by CCI, and we hope we’ve played some small role in perpetuating the work they do for another half-century or more.”

The partnership will preserve CCI’s leadership and employees while integrating CareSource’s resources and expertise to enhance service delivery and drive better health outcomes. Both organizations share a commitment to continuing CCI’s foundational mission of providing person-centered, outcomes-driven care that promotes independence and improves the quality of life for aging adults and individuals with unique needs.
